Murshidabad Zilla Parishad is a local self government duly constituted under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (Part-IV-Zilla Parishad-Chapter XIII-Constitution of Zilla Parishad-Section 140).
It looks after the administration of the rural area of the district and its office is located at the Panchantala, Berahmpore, Murshidabad
Constitution : Members of the Zilla Parishad have been elected from the district on the basis of adult franchise for a term of five years. There are 70 Constituencies under this Zilla Parishad. The seat reservation is as follows:

There are 26 Panchaya Samities in this district. The Sabhapati of these Panchayat Samties are the Ex-Officio members of this Zilla Parishad. Apart from this, 3 Members of Parliament (08-Jangipur, 09-Murshidabad and 10-Berhampore), and 21 MLAs (055-Faraakka, 056-Samserganj, 57-Suti, 58-Jangipur, 59-Raghunathganj, 60-Sagardighi, 61-Lalgola, 62-Bhagwangola, 63-Raninagar, 64-Murshidabad, 65-Nabagram(SC), 66-Khargram (SC), 76-Burwan(SC), 68-Kandi, 69-Bharatpur, 70-Rejinagar, 71-Beldanga, 72-Berhampore, 73-Hariharpara, 74-Nowda, 75-Domkal, 76-Jalagi) happen to the Ex-Officio Members of this Zilla Parishad. The Parishad is headed by the Sabhadhipati and Saha-Sabhadhipati.
Sthayee Samities : There are Nine Sthayee Samities in the Parishad each of which has a Karmadhakhya(Chairman):

9. Khudra Shilpa, Bidyut O Aciracharit Shakti Sthayee Samity
10. Matsya O Prani Sampad Bikash Sthayee Samiti
The Sabhadhipati of the Zilla Parishad happen to be the Chairman of the Artha, Sanstha, Unnayan O Parikalpana Sthayee Samity.
Administrative Structure: The Executive Officer (EO), who also happen to be the District Magistrate of Murshidabad, heads the administrative machinery of the Zilla Parishad. The EO supervises the divisions of the Parishad and executes its development schemes as decided by the State Govt. and the Parishad itself.
